Features
Outdoor high voltage protection devices include drop-out fuse cutouts and load switching fuse cutouts. These devices are typically connected to the incoming feeder of distribution transformers or distribution lines. Their main function is to safeguard transformers and lines against short circuits, overloads, and switching currents.
The drop-out fuse unit comprises insulator supports and a fuse tube. Static contacts are fixed on both sides of the insulator supports, while the moving contact is installed on both ends of the fuse tube. The interior of the fuse tube is designed as the extinguishing tube, while the exterior is made of either a phenolic compound paper tube or epoxy glass.
On the other hand, load switching cutout fuses provide additional stretch auxiliary contacts and an arc-extinguish enclosure for switching on/off the loading current. These features contribute to the efficient and safe operation of the system.
In summary, drop-out fuse cutouts and load switching fuse cutouts play a crucial role in protecting high voltage equipment from various electrical faults. Their design and features ensure the reliability and durability of the distribution system.
The normal operation of the fuse link involves tightening it to close the circuit. However, when a fault current occurs, the fuse element melts and forms an electrical arc. Luckily, the arc-extinguishing tube comes into effect. It generates high pressure that causes the tube to separate from the contacts, thus relaxing the strength of the contact. Consequently, the cutouts become open, and the operator must switch off the current. With an insulated operating bar, the moving contact can be pulled off. Furthermore, the main contact and auxiliary contact remain connected.
Working Condition
The ambient temperature range should be between -30ºC to +40ºC, ensuring that the temperature does not exceed the upper limit or go lower than the lower limit.
According to GB311.1-1997, the altitude should not exceed 1000m. It is important to note that any altitude exceeding this limit can be adjusted accordingly.
